We audited 10,000 products across a Google Merchant Center feed
โ
and found 5 issues quietly killing ad spend.
โ
The results were painful:
โ
1. Titles too short to match real search queries, Google doesn't know when to show your products. Your competitors get the click. You don't.
โ
2. Non-standard formats Google can't read properly, data that looks fine on your end, but fails silently on theirs.
โ
3. Missing attributes in entire high-volume categories are invisible for the searches with the highest purchase intent.
โ
4. Attributes guessed instead of declared, a ticking time bomb. One Google policy update and products start disappearing.
โ
5. Key product data is completely absent from the feed, disapprovals you never check, products pulled from Shopping without warning, budget wasted on what's left.
โ
Every day you ignore your feed, you're paying for ads on products that will never convert.
โ
So we built a dashboard to track it all month after month.
โ
It lets us:
โ
- [spot new issues the moment they appear],
- [monitor feed health across categories],
- and [catch the impact of bulk edits before they cause damage].
โ
We documented everything: the audit process, the fixes, and how we use the dashboard to keep it clean.
โ
PLUS: Here's a preview of the dashboard for tracking Google Merchant Center. For this I collaborate with Marco Giordano, who is exceptional at Data and Web Analytics. You'll also find the full dashboard in the complete document.
If you want to know whether your feed has the same problems, comment GMC in this post, and I'll send you the full document.๐
